Greater Cincinnati Environmental Educators (GCEE) is an umbrella organization composed of environmental education organizations and parks. GCEE was established in 1999 to:

  • Promote environmental education resources available to classroom teachers throughout Greater Cincinnati;
  • Facilitate interaction and collaboration among environmental education professionals in Greater Cincinnati; and
  • Provide outreach and training to classroom teachers throughout Greater Cincinnati

GCEE member organizations provide programming to both formal (K-12) and non-formal audiences (youth and adults).  Since its inception, GCEE has served dozens of environmental education professionals, hundreds of classroom educators and thousands of Greater Cincinnati school children by providing resource fairs, education workshops, classroom programs and field trips.

Member organizations come from all three states in the Greater Cincinnati area – Ohio, Kentucky, and Indiana.  We meet bi-monthly at member organization sites to establish partnerships and collaborate, to learn about environmental education programs offered by member organizations and others, to learn about educational facilities in the region, and to participate in professional development activities.

New member organizations are always welcome!

Annual programs organized by GCEE organizations include:

  • Environmental Education Expo at the Cincinnati Flower Show in April
  • Environmental Education Expo at Paddle Fest in July
  • Environmental Education Resource Fair at the Cincinnati Zoo beginning of the school year (August or September) to introduce teachers to the programs and services offered by our organizations
  • Great Outdoor Weekend, a free 2-day sampler of environmental education programs in the Greater Cincinnati Region held the last weekend of September

The purpose of this website is to introduce you to GCEE member organizations and promote our environmental education programs. Each organization has a brief introductory page and a link to their website. We have also included an Events Calendar that contains major events in the region, and a Professional Development page that included GCEE bi-monthly meetings and Professional Development opportunities for teachers. For a complete list of an organization’s programs, please use the link provided on each page to view the organization’s website.
