Civic Garden Center of Greater Cincinnati (CGC)

Description: The Civic Garden Center of Greater Cincinnati (CGC) is a non-profit horticultural resource that enriches lives through education, community beautification and environmental stewardship. The CGC is an oasis in the heart of downtown Cincinnati.

Hours of Operation: Monday through Saturday 9am-4pm.

Facility Open to Public: Yes

Onsite Programs: We provide education and information through our Horticulture Hotline, library, classes, hands-on workshops, tours and special events.

Offsite Programs Available: Our cornerstone program, the Neighborhood Gardens Program touches 23 communities with over 40 gardens. Compost Kids, a hands-on field trip sponsored by Hamilton County Environmental Services, teaches children about composting. Summer Sprouts and School Garden Clubs introduce young people to gardening.

Program Fees:  Yes and No. Some programs have a registration fees.

Handicap Accessible:  Yes

Teacher Training Workshops/Programs: Yes

Audiences: Grades k-12.

Program Topics: Plant science, garden education.

Free Teacher Resources: After school garden clubs.  

Community Service Opportunities: Garden cleanups, building projects, and work days.
